The Locking Compression Plate (LCP) Clavicle System combines conventional screw fixation with angular-stable locking fixation. The plate accommodates both non-locking screws for conventional fixation and locking screws that engage the plate at a predetermined angle.
The system is primarily designed for fixation on the superior aspect of the clavicle and includes different plate configurations to accommodate variations in clavicular anatomy and fracture location.
The system includes a Superior Anterior Clavicle Plate, which fits the superior aspect of the lateral clavicle and transitions toward the anterior surface at the medial midshaft, as well as a Superior Clavicle Plate featuring a lateral bow and flat superior surface.
Anterior plate configurations and screw-hole options are designed to accommodate different fracture locations and patterns, providing flexibility in fixation planning.
The limited-contact configuration minimizes the area of direct contact between the plate and bone, helping reduce interference with the periosteal interface.
The plate incorporates compression, glide, and locking hole options, allowing conventional compression techniques and locking fixation to be used according to the fracture and surgical requirements.
The hole configuration supports the use of a lag screw technique when interfragmentary compression is required.
The plate is manufactured from pure titanium, offering the material characteristics specified by the supplier, including biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, and fatigue resistance.
The low-notch design with smooth edges is intended to reduce contact and irritation of surrounding soft tissues.
Anterior plate positioning allows drilling and screw placement from front to back, directing the instrumentation away from subclavicular structures compared with a superior-to-inferior trajectory.
The limited-contact plate design reduces the area of direct plate-to-bone contact, helping minimize interference with the periosteal blood supply.
The plates are anatomically pre-shaped with a reconstruction-oriented design, reducing the need for extensive intraoperative contouring and supporting close conformity to the clavicle.
The combination of locking and compression holes provides multiple fixation options. When positioned on the anterior clavicle, the plate can also function as a buttress against the lateral or distal fragment.
A range of plate shapes and specifications is available, reducing the need for plate cutting and allowing selection according to individual fracture characteristics.
